Know Your Voting Rights

  • If the polls close while you’re in line, stay in line, you have the right to vote

  • If you make a mistake on your ballot, ask for a new one

  • If the machines are down at your polling place, ask for a paper ballot

  • If a polling official says you are not registered, eligible, or you are otherwise turned away ask for a provisional ballot

  • If you cannot read English you may bring a person of your choice to help you. Section 203 requires certain jurisdictions to provide bilingual voting materials in communities with language minorities and limited-English proficient residents

  • If you don't know how to vote you may ask a poll worker for a demonstration. Instructions will also be posted at the poll site
